Mithun Chakraborty’s Touching Moments at Bengal Oath Ceremony

Kolkata, May 9: The oath-taking ceremony of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari as Chief Minister in Kolkata witnessed several memorable moments that are now trending on social media. The event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty.

Mithun Chakraborty’s appearance at the ceremony was notably distinct, as he donned a kurta-pajama paired with a shawl and a red cap. Upon arriving on stage, he touched the feet of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who gently stopped him and shook hands instead. Following this, a video of him embracing Home Minister Amit Shah has gone viral online.

After meeting Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, Mithun shook hands with BJP National President Nitin Nabin and then met with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. During this interaction, he attempted to touch Naidu’s feet, but Naidu smiled and greeted him with a handshake. He also met BJP leader J.P. Nadda and Yogi Adityanath, touching the feet of the latter and embracing Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

This video has sparked discussions on social media, with many praising Mithun for his gestures, attributing them to his ‘values.’

Mithun Chakraborty entered politics in 2014 when he was elected as a Rajya Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress. He raised issues related to West Bengal and social topics in Parliament but resigned in 2016 citing health reasons. After a long hiatus from politics, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2021 and has since been a regular presence at political events.
