Thiruvananthapuram, June 23: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, participated in the ‘Cycling by the Sea’ event on Tuesday. Organized under the ‘Fit India Movement’, the event saw the Minister cycling from Chakka ITI to Sanghumugham Beach in the capital of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. Over 250 members from local cycling clubs took part in the initiative.
Dr. Mandaviya shared a video of the event on his X account, highlighting the experience. He stated, “Cycling in Thiruvananthapuram was a wonderful experience, with more than 250 young members from local clubs participating.”
He emphasized the importance of cycling for maintaining health and promoting environmental conservation, noting that it saves fuel and reduces pollution.
The Sports Minister has played a significant role in transforming cycling into a nationwide campaign, encouraging citizens to adopt it for health and environmental benefits.
Wishing everyone on Olympic Day, he wrote on X, “Happy Olympic Day to all. We celebrate the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, which inspire millions around the world.”
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he remarked, “Under PM Modi’s leadership, India is witnessing a sports revolution like never before. His guidance has empowered athletes and inspired ordinary citizens to make sports a part of their lives.”
Dr. Mandaviya also extended his best wishes to athletes for the upcoming Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, expressing hope for outstanding performances from the country’s athletes in both events.
