Udaipur, May 11, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital in Udaipur has started evening OPD services from Monday in view of the rising number of heatwave, fever and diarrhoea cases.
The facility has been launched in the Medicine Department of the hospital, which is affiliated with RNT Medical College. The evening OPD will operate from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Hospital officials said around 450 to 500 patients are already visiting the Medicine Department daily during the regular OPD hours from 8 am to 2 pm, with most patients suffering from heat-related illnesses and fever.
On the first day of the evening OPD, nearly 45 patients visited the department. Doctors said the number is expected to rise gradually as more people become aware of the new facility.
Hospital Superintendent R L Suman visited the OPD on the first day and reviewed the arrangements. He took feedback from doctors and inspected the functioning of the facility.
Dr Suman said the initiative has been started as per state government directions to help common people during the heatwave situation. He said many patients are unable to visit the hospital during the day due to strong sunlight and hot winds.
He added that three to four doctors have been deployed in the Medicine Department for the evening OPD, while diagnostic labs, medicine stores and nursing staff are also available during the evening hours.
