Udaipur, March 6 : A massive wildfire has engulfed Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Udaipur, spreading rapidly over the past three days. The fire, which intensified on Thursday morning due to strong winds, has now covered nearly 7 hectares of forest land. In response to the escalating crisis, the administration has imposed a complete ban on tourist entry into Sajjangarh Sanctuary and the Biological Park.
🔥 Firefighting Efforts Intensify
To combat the raging flames, over 10 fire engines from Udaipur have been deployed. Personnel from the police, forest department, and fire brigade are actively engaged in containment operations to prevent the fire from spreading deeper into the sanctuary and reaching the bio-park.
🚨 Evacuation Measures & Safety Precautions
As a precautionary measure, authorities have evacuated six residential houses located near the affected area. Gas cylinders have been removed to mitigate explosion risks. Residents of around 15 to 20 houses near the century wall, close to Rampara-Ubeshwar Road, have been advised to move to safer locations along with their livestock.

Given the severity of the situation, Udaipur Collector Namit Mehta, SP Yogesh Goyal, and DFO Ajay Chittora rushed to the site to assess the damage and coordinate firefighting efforts. Thick smoke billowing from the hills has now reached the roads, prompting officials to wear protective masks for safety.
According to Collector Namit Mehta, the fire was previously brought under control, but strong winds reignited it on Thursday morning. The administration is making every possible effort to extinguish the fire and minimize damage at the earliest.
