Badaun, June 28: In a shocking incident in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly abducting and assaulting a four-year-old girl. The arrest followed a police encounter where the accused was shot in both legs. Authorities recovered a firearm and cartridges from his possession.
According to reports, the girl went missing on the evening of June 25 from a village in the Alapur police station area. Following her disappearance, police registered a case and initiated a search operation. After the girl was found, a medical examination confirmed that she had been assaulted, leading to the addition of relevant charges in the case.
SSP Ankita Sharma stated that the police received information regarding the girl’s abduction. During the search, she was located in a field and subsequently admitted to a hospital. It was revealed that the girl had been assaulted after her abduction and was later abandoned in the field. The accused fled the scene after the incident.
Following an intensive investigation, it was discovered that the assault was carried out by the girl’s relative, Abrar, son of Lateef, who resides in the same village as the victim. Upon receiving information about Abrar’s whereabouts, police attempted to apprehend him, but he opened fire. In the ensuing exchange, he was shot in both legs and apprehended. He is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.
