Mahindra Vision S Design Patented with Exciting Features

Mumbai, October 25: Mahindra has made a significant announcement regarding its upcoming SUV, the Vision S, by securing a patent for its design. This follows previous patents for the Vision series concepts, including the X, T, and SXT models. The Vision S was first showcased as a concept last year, and the patented design reveals much about the SUV’s appearance and features. Its boxy and robust design distinguishes it from typical smaller SUVs, although some features and accessories may vary in the production model.

The patented design showcases a tall and straight front look. According to reports, the SUV features inverted L-shaped headlights and a six-slot grille with lighting, reminiscent of the concept model. Additionally, it includes a bull bar-like bumper, protective covers underneath, and a clamshell design for the hood. The SUV is expected to have wide, square wheel arches, body cladding, and door handles that protrude less outwardly.

The Vision S is anticipated to come equipped with impressive features. The concept model displayed additional lights at the front, limb risers on the hood edges, and a roof rack for carrying items. While it remains unclear if all these features will be included in the production model, some may be offered as accessories. Notably, the SUV’s design is expected to resemble that of off-road vehicles.

In terms of technology, the test model of the Vision S is expected to feature a large touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel, potentially similar to the Mahindra BE 6. The company may introduce the next-generation AdrenoX system, which is likely to support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moreover, the SUV may include wireless charging, ventilated seats, and a single-pane sunroof, with a panoramic sunroof available in higher variants. Safety features such as Level-2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera are also anticipated, although final details will be revealed at the time of launch. The Vision S is expected to compete with smaller SUVs and upcoming models like the Renault Brijar.

Mahindra is developing the Vision S on its NU_IQ platform, which can accommodate various powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric options. Initially, the SUV is expected to feature petrol and diesel engines, with reports suggesting a 1.2-liter turbo engine for the petrol variant and a 1.5-liter engine from the old Thar for the diesel variant. Electric and hybrid models may be introduced later.
