Mahindra Unveils Ambitious SUV Plans for 2027

Udaipur, February 15: Mahindra is gearing up for significant developments in the Indian SUV market over the coming years. The company has announced that the facelift versions of the Scorpio N and the 3-door Thar will be arriving in showrooms within the next few months. Additionally, a completely new generation of SUVs is set to launch starting in 2027. A pickup truck based on the Scorpio N is also expected to debut next year, having been spotted multiple times during testing in India. This indicates a promising lineup of new models for Mahindra’s showrooms in the near future.

The Vision S concept SUV, which was unveiled in August 2025, is anticipated to be the first model launched from a series that includes the Vision X, Vision T, and Vision SXT. All these models are based on the new NU_IQ platform, with the Vision S already seen in near-production-ready prototypes on the roads. Mahindra’s new factory in Nagpur, covering 1,500 acres, is set to become a major production hub for the Vision S.

Mahindra has also revealed that approximately 60% of its total demand comes from SUVs longer than 4 meters, while 40% of customers prefer compact SUVs. This trend is influencing the planning of upcoming models. Furthermore, due to rising demand for its electric SUV, the XEV 9S, Mahindra is preparing to increase production from 3,000 to 5,000 units. This move demonstrates the company’s commitment to both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) segments.

Looking ahead, Mahindra has confirmed plans to launch a Scorpio N-based pickup truck in 2027, with a production-ready version recently spotted in India. Interestingly, this pickup will first be launched in international markets such as Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, with its Indian debut following later. Additionally, Mahindra plans to start producing left-hand-drive (LHD) models from 2028, primarily from the Nagpur plant.
