Udaipur : Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur, a popular tourist destination, is now equipped to handle landings in fog. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has installed a new Category 1 instrument landing system (ILS) on the airport’s runway.
The ILS system uses radio signals to guide pilots to the runway during low visibility conditions, such as fog. This will allow aircraft to land at the airport even in the event of heavy fog, which is common in Udaipur during the winter months.
Previously, flights to Udaipur were often diverted to other airports, such as Ahmedabad, Surat, or Jaipur, during periods of heavy fog. The installation of the ILS system will eliminate the need for these diversions, providing a more reliable and convenient travel experience for passengers.
“The installation of the ILS system is a major milestone for the Maharana Pratap Airport,” said Yogesh Nagaich, director of the airport. “It is part of our ongoing efforts to improve aviation facilities at the airport.”
The ILS system is a valuable addition to the Maharana Pratap Airport, which serves over 2 million passengers annually. The system will help to ensure that the airport remains operational even during periods of bad weather, providing a safe and reliable travel option for passengers.
