Bhopal, 25 July : The monsoon continues to bring widespread rain across Madhya Pradesh, leading to overflow in several dams. In Jabalpur, two more gates of the Bargi Dam were opened on Friday morning, taking the total to seven. Similarly, seven gates have been opened at the Satpura Dam in Sarni, Betul district. The state has recorded an average of 3.7 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Bargi and Satpura Dams Release Water
At 11 am on Friday, two additional gates of the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur were opened, after five were already open on Thursday. Currently, water is being discharged through all seven gates at a rate of 40,259 cusecs. Each gate has been opened up to 1.21 metres. The dam administration has advised people to stay away from the Narmada River and nearby ghats due to strong water currents.
In Sarni, Betul, seven gates of the Satpura Dam have been opened by 3 feet each, releasing 17,300 cusecs of water. The water level of the dam currently stands at 1,430 feet. According to the Meteorological Department, the dam area received 64 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, bringing the seasonal total to 630 mm.
Widespread Rain Across the State
In Pachmarhi, Narmadapuram district, rainfall has continued for three days, ranging from heavy to light showers. Amid clouds and fog, the weather has turned cooler, attracting tourists to Madhya Pradesh’s highest point, Dhoopgarh.
Gwalior received heavy rainfall on Friday morning, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas. Students and office-goers faced difficulty commuting due to the downpour. Overnight drizzle had already affected the region since Thursday night.
Rainfall Statistics Across Districts
According to the Meteorological Department, Gwalior recorded the highest rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours with 3.7 inches. Other rainfall figures include: Raisen – 2.4 inches, Pachmarhi – 1.9 inches, Seoni – 1.6 inches, and 1.1 inches each in Bhopal, Datia, and Malajkhand.
Light to heavy rainfall was also reported from several other districts, including Chhatarpur (Nowgaon and Khajuraho), Narsinghpur, Guna, Betul, Sagar, Jabalpur, Umaria, Mandla, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Damoh, Ratlam, Khargone, Vidisha, Sehore, Tikamgarh, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, and Rajgarh.
