Chennai, May 10: In the 53rd match of IPL 2026 on Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium. LSG achieved their highest powerplay score, amassing 91 runs with the loss of just one wicket.
After losing the toss, LSG opened their innings with a fiery partnership between Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh. While Marsh played the anchor role, Inglis unleashed a barrage of boundaries. Inglis’s explosive batting helped LSG set a record for the highest powerplay score in the league, surpassing their previous record of 90 runs against the Mumbai Indians.
Inglis completed his half-century in just 17 balls, making him the third-fastest player to achieve this milestone for LSG in the league. He also set the record for the fastest fifty at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Inglis scored a remarkable 85 runs off 33 balls, hitting 10 fours and 6 sixes.
However, Mitchell Marsh struggled with the bat, scoring only 10 runs before being dismissed. Nicholas Pooran also had a quiet outing, managing just a single run before being bowled by Noor Ahmad. Captain Rishabh Pant started well but was bowled for 15 runs off 12 balls by Jamie Overton. Aiden Markram was unfortunate, getting run out for just 6 runs.
LSG made two significant changes to their playing XI for this match. Josh Inglis returned to the team after recovering from injury, while Avesh Khan replaced the expensive fast bowler Mayank Yadav. CSK did not make any changes to their lineup.
