New Delhi, August 13: The monsoon session of Parliament has been marred by disruptions, leading to the indefinite adjournment of Lok Sabha proceedings on Thursday. This marks the conclusion of the session.
The Lok Sabha commenced at 11 AM with the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ played in its entirety. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present in the house during this time. Following the national song, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the indefinite adjournment of the proceedings.
Notably, Speaker Om Birla did not deliver the traditional closing speech summarizing the productivity and proceedings of the Lok Sabha during this session.
Throughout the session, there was ongoing chaos regarding allegations of embezzlement related to donations for the Ram Temple and the NEET paper leak issue. The opposition protested against police actions against students demonstrating over the NEET paper leak. Additionally, they raised concerns about the absence of Home Minister Amit Shah in the house and demanded a response from the government regarding police actions against students.
Despite the continuous uproar from the opposition, the government successfully passed several important bills. Some of these bills were passed without debate due to the absence of opposition members during discussions.
Among the bills passed by the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session were the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, the Kerala (Name Change) Bill officially renaming the state to ‘Keralam,’ the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, and the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill.
Additionally, on Wednesday, the Lok Sabha passed the proposal to send the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) by voice vote.
