Jaipur, October 30 (Udaipur Kiran) — Several districts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Alwar, Karauli, Jodhpur, Tonk, Ajmer, and Udaipur, experienced light showers on Thursday morning, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature and an increase in chill across the region. In many rural areas, early morning fog reduced visibility.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 13 districts of the state. The impact of a cyclonic system formed over the Arabian Sea has been visible since Wednesday in southern and southeastern Rajasthan, where cloudy weather and light rain were reported.
Due to continued rainfall in Tonk and nearby areas, the water inflow in the Bisalpur Dam has increased. As of Thursday morning, the second gate of the dam was opened by two meters, releasing 24,040 cusecs of water per second into the Banas River. The dam gates, which were closed on October 21, had to be reopened on October 28 following heavy inflow.
In Duni tehsil’s Ghaad area of Tonk district, mustard crops have been submerged due to heavy rainfall, causing losses to local farmers.
Weather experts said the impact of the cyclonic system is likely to continue until October 31, with light rain or drizzle expected in several districts on Thursday and Friday. From November 1, clear skies and sunshine are expected, leading to a slight rise in temperature.
Cold winds have marked the onset of winter in Rajasthan, and the Meteorological Department has advised residents to wear warm clothing during mornings and evenings.
