Kumbalgarh fort to get facelift

Udaipur : A ray of hope shines at the Kumbalgarh fort in Rajsamand, that would soon get a tourism facelift. The Centre has sanctioned 7.5 Cr rupees for development and upkeep of the fort, which is one of the five hill forts of the state that were declared the UNESCO world heritage sites in 2013.

Under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana, 15.22 lakh rupees would be spent on building a tourist help center so as to assist the hundreds of visitors who arrive here from far and wide, sources said. Also 13.83 lakh rupees would be spent on developing infrastructural facilities while 6.85 lakh rupees would be spent for clean drinking water for the visitors. According to sources, the fort recieves more than 2000 visitors on an average and during the tourist season, specially weekends, the number even touches to three thousand visitors a day.

A sum of 26.44 lakh rupees is estimated to be spent on developing stay home, resting and sitting rooms in the fort premises. Benches would be erected sideways and the pathways would repaired. Modern amenities like solar lights, wi-fi system, CCTVs would be installed here to extend facilities and security to the visitors. Rajsamand legislators and MP had been for some time demanding funds from the Center for the fort restoration and development activities so that it could become one of the major tourist attraction in the state.
