Kota, May 2, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) — A NEET aspirant in Rajasthan’s Kota died by suicide on Saturday morning, a day before the medical entrance examination, police said.

The incident took place in the Kunhadi police station area, where the student allegedly jumped from the roof of his hostel. The police reached the spot after receiving information and took the body into custody for further investigation.
According to police officials, the deceased has been identified as Dixit Prasad, a resident of Almora district in Uttarakhand. He had been living in Kota for the past two years while preparing for the NEET UG 2026.
Preliminary information suggests that the student took the extreme step just a day before the examination. However, the exact reason behind the incident is not yet known. Police have initiated a probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
Kota, known as a major coaching hub, witnesses a large number of students arriving every year to prepare for competitive exams.
