Karni Sena Attacks SP Rajya Sabha MP

Background of the Protest

The protest was triggered by a statement made by MP Ramji Lal Suman in the Rajya Sabha on March 21, which the Karni Sena alleges insulted Rana Sanga, a revered icon of the Rajput (Kshatriya) community. The remarks sparked widespread outrage among Karni Sena members, culminating in the mob gathering outside the MP’s residence today.

According to sources, the protesters broke furniture, shouted slogans, and vandalized property during the rampage. Tensions escalated when police intervened to control the crowd.

Violence and Police Response

As police tried to calm the agitated protesters, the situation spiraled out of control. The barricades were broken, and stones and chairs were hurled at the police. Multiple officers were injured in the incident, including Inspector Hari Parvat Alok Kumar Singh.

In response, the police conducted a lathi-charge to drive the crowd away and regain control of the area. Heavy police deployment continues at the MP’s residence and surrounding areas to prevent any further escalation.

Karni Sena demands apology

Karni Sena’s Youth National President Okrendra Rana condemned the MP’s remarks, stating,

“The Rajya Sabha MP used derogatory language against a great figure of the Kshatriya community. He must immediately retract his statement and issue a public apology.”

The group has warned of further protests if their demands are not met, raising concerns of continued unrest.
