Jodhpur Discom Assistant and Private Driver Arrested for Accepting ₹3,500 Bribe

Jaipur, October 7 (Udaipur Kiran): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jodhpur Special Unit, arrested Jitendra Singh, Commercial Assistant at Jodhpur Discom, and Phoolsingh, a private vehicle driver, red-handed while accepting a ₹3,500 bribe.

According to Smita Srivastava, Additional Director General of Police, ACB Headquarters, the complainant had contacted the ACB helpline number 1064, reporting that the accused were demanding a bribe of ₹3,500 for processing legitimate work. Acting on the complaint, the ACB directed the Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Unit), Jodhpur to take necessary action.

The complainant informed that he runs a solar plant firm, which had submitted three files at the Assistant Engineer (A-7), Jodhpur Discom office for service connection orders (SCO) related to three consumer solar connections. It was alleged that Jitendra Singh and Phoolsingh, on behalf of themselves and Assistant Engineer Chetan Sharma, Junior Engineer Kapil Bameel, and Lineman, demanded a bribe of ₹3,500 to process the files.

Under the supervision of Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, DIG, ACB Jodhpur Range, and led by Omprakash Choudhary, Additional SP (Special Unit), a trap was laid by Inspector Manish Choudhary and team. Both accused were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

Further interrogation is underway, and an FIR has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The roles of the Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer, and Lineman will also be investigated as part of the ongoing inquiry.
