RANCHI, April 1, 2025 — A major railway accident occurred in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand early Monday morning, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to four others, including CISF personnel. The incident took place around 3:00 AM, approximately 486 kilometers from the state capital Ranchi.

According to Amit Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Sahibganj, the accident involved a moving freight train colliding with a stationary one near Barhait, igniting a fire in the engine compartments. One of the deceased is reported to be the driver of one of the trains.
CISF Personnel Among Injured
Officials confirmed that four CISF jawans sustained injuries in the collision and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Emergency services, including the fire brigade, were quickly dispatched to the scene and were able to control the fire after intense efforts.
Initial reports suggest that a freight train traveling from Farakka to Lalmatia rammed into a stationary goods train near Barhait. The impact triggered a blaze in the locomotive units, causing significant damage.
