Big Relief for Government Employees & Pensioners
The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a 7% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners under the Sixth Pay Commission. The DA has been raised from 239% to 246% of the basic pay and pension, bringing much-needed financial relief to thousands of state government workers.
According to an official notification from the Finance Department, employees who still receive salaries based on the old 6th Pay Commission structure will benefit from the revised DA rates.
New DA Payment Schedule & Arrears Details
✔ Effective Date: The revised DA hike is applicable from July 1, 2024.
✔ Payment of Arrears:
- Arrears for the period of July 2024 to February 2025 will be paid in March 2025.
- Monthly salaries from March 2025 will reflect the updated DA amount.
✔ Rounding Off Rule: - Fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded to the next rupee.
- Amounts below 50 paise will be ignored.
DA Increase for Pensioners & Family Pensioners
The J&K government has also extended the DA hike to pensioners and family pensioners under the Sixth Pay Commission. Their DA has also been raised from 239% to 246%, effective from July 1, 2024.
✔ Pensioners will receive arrears in March 2025, ensuring financial security for retired employees.
✔ Future pensions will include the updated DA adjustment.
