Security sources said that joint security forces team of Army, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched cordon and search operation on specific information about presence of some terrorists.
As the joint team of forces zeroed in on the suspected spot the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces triggering an encounter.
Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
The intermittent firing is currently going on.In another incident , terrorists attacked an army patrolling party in Meemendhar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district this afternoon.
Security sources said the unknown terrorists fired towards bullet proof Casper Vehicle in the army Patrol.
There was no immediate report of any fatal or non fatal casualties from the area so far.
A manhunt is underway to nab the attackers.
