NEW DELHI, Oct 29: Jailer 2 collected Rs 8.75 crore on its first Tuesday, marking a 20% drop from the previous day’s earnings. This brings the film’s total gross at the Indian box office to Rs 462.75 crore.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is set to close its second week with projections around Rs 480 crore. The film, featuring Rajinikanth, has become a success at the box office, breaking records for Tamil cinema.
On its 12th day, the film achieved a milestone by becoming the first Tamil film to sell over 1 crore tickets on BookMyShow. The total ticket sales reached 1 crore, a feat previously accomplished only by a limited number of Hindi and Telugu films.
As for net earnings, Jailer 2 collected Rs 9.45 crore in India over 10,450 shows on its 12th day, contributing to a cumulative total of Rs 408.15 crore net. Its global gross has surpassed Rs 733 crore, placing it among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time.
Internationally, the film has performed well, especially in markets like North America and the Middle East. According to reports, North America alone accounts for approximately 27% of its overseas earnings.
Despite its popularity, Jailer 2 faced some release restrictions in North India, missing multiplex chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis due to its theatrical window requirements.
Rajinikanth returns as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian, facing new challenges in this sequel. The film also includes performances from Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Jackie Shroff.
