Tehran, July 3: Iran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, issued a warning on Thursday that if the United States interferes in the Hormuz Strait, Iranian armed forces will respond with “swift and decisive” action.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, the statement emphasized that the Hormuz Strait is not a place for the US to act arbitrarily, but rather an area of “undisputed sovereignty” for Iran.
The statement further asserted that the security and stability of this waterway is a “red line” for the Iranian military, which must not be crossed at any cost.
It specified that all oil tankers and commercial vessels passing through the Hormuz Strait must use the maritime routes designated by Iran. Any vessel that fails to comply with these regulations or takes alternative routes will face immediate and strict action from the Iranian military, putting the safety of such ships at risk.
The headquarters warned that if the US attempts to interfere with the security arrangements in the Hormuz Strait or create any obstacles, Iran will consider it a threat to its national security and will respond promptly and decisively.
The statement also noted that the continuous presence of US fighter jets and drones over this waterway increases insecurity in the region. Iran declared that it will not hesitate to take necessary measures to crush any “aggressive actions” by the US and its allies to protect its sovereignty.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, posted on social media platform X, asserting that the Hormuz Strait is under Iran’s control, not the US Central Command.
This statement came a day after the US Central Command held a “security dialogue” in Bahrain with military officials from 12 countries, discussing regional security, enhancing defense cooperation, and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of commercial vessels through the Hormuz Strait.
