Mullanpur, May 30 — Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stormed into the IPL 2025 final with a dominant 8-wicket victory over Punjab Kings on Thursday night. This marks the fourth time the Bengaluru-based franchise has reached the tournament final. After the win, RCB captain Rajat Patidar hailed his team’s execution and praised fans for unwavering support throughout the season.

“We Were Clear About Our Plans” – Rajat Patidar
Speaking after the match, Patidar highlighted the team’s sharp focus and the bowlers’ ability to execute their roles to perfection.
“We were clear about our plans, especially with the ball. The pacers made good use of the pitch, and Suyash Sharma bowled an excellent line and length,” said Patidar.
He also underlined his leadership approach with Suyash, saying:
“I’m always clear about Suyash’s role – all he has to do is attack the stumps. His googlies are tough to read, and I avoid giving him too many instructions to keep him focused.”
Phil Salt’s Explosive Start Sets the Tone
Opener Phil Salt, who smashed an unbeaten 56 runs, gave RCB the dream start in their chase.
“It feels great. The ball was moving a bit, but this wasn’t the worst pitch we’ve played on this season,” Salt remarked.
“One thing I kept telling myself — don’t get out to Arshdeep! He’s got me twice in the league stage. So I just focused on reacting to the ball.”
Salt also credited head coach Andy Flower for instilling belief during RCB’s travel and break periods, adding:
“I told Andy before the game that this break and travel might be a blessing in disguise. This win gives us crucial momentum at the right time.”
Suyash Sharma Bags Player of the Match
Leg-spinner Suyash Sharma, the standout performer with 3 wickets in 4 overs, dismantled Punjab’s middle order and was deservingly named Player of the Match.
“I just followed the coach’s plan and felt really good while bowling. I noticed that batters weren’t reading my googly well today, which gave me confidence,” said Suyash.
“We treated this like any other match and didn’t let the pressure of a semi-final get to us. My role is simple — attack the stumps.”
RCB Fans Lauded for All-Season Support
In a heartfelt message to fans, Patidar expressed his gratitude:
“No matter where we play, it feels like we’re at home. RCB fans have been phenomenal. Please continue supporting us the same way.”
With momentum on their side and confidence running high, RCB now eyes its maiden IPL title in the IPL 2025 Final, bringing fresh hope to its passionate fanbase.
