
Visakhapatnam : Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for slow over-rate during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
“This was Delhi Capitals’ second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offenses, hence Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs,” an official IPL statement said on Thursday. “In addition, the rest of the playing XI, including the impact player, have been fined INR 6 lakhs each or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever is lower.”
Talking about the match, KKR, batting first, posted a mammoth total of 272 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, courtesy of explosive knocks from Sunil Narine (39 balls, 85 runs, 7 fours, 7 sixes), Anrich Nortje (27 balls, 54 runs, 5 fours, 3 sixes), Andre Russell (19 balls, 41 runs, 4 fours, 3 sixes) and Rinku Singh (8 balls, 26 runs, 1 four, 3 sixes).
In reply, Delhi were bundled out for 166 runs in 17.2 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant (55) and Tristan Stubbs (54) played brilliant half-centuries for Delhi. Apart from these two, no other batsman could stay at the crease, 6 batsmen could not even cross the double-digit mark.
