The iPhone 16 series is rumored to be unveiled next month, and ahead of its release, there were reports that the smartphones’ display panels would go into mass production. According to reports, the OLED displays of the next iPhone series will be produced by Samsung Display and LG Display. Apple reportedly expected demand for its devices to increase and then asked its suppliers to produce more devices than last year. Previous reports also claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro model could come with a larger battery.
According to reports, the iPhone 16 series display panels have reached the production stage
According to a report by South Korean publication ETNews, the Cupertino-based tech giant has asked display suppliers to start mass producing display units. After that, Samsung Display and LG Display switched to full-time production of OLED panels.
According to this report, production of OLED panels began last month. The reason for this is Apple’s high demand for displays. The tech giant reportedly expects demand for smartphones in the market to increase, possibly due to the new Apple Intelligence feature.
The company will reportedly contract Samsung Display to produce 80 million display panels this year, while LG Display will supply 43 million of them. It is worth noting that these two companies were the only manufacturers of Apple smartphone screens last year.
According to this publication, LG Display will be the main beneficiary of this increase in demand. The supply volume has increased by more than 10 million units compared to the previous year. It reportedly accounts for more than 30 percent of Apple’s total display shipments. The increase comes after the company reportedly faced delays in approving mass production of iPhone 15 series displays and struggled to produce them on time.
Separately, another report claims that the battery capacity of both iPhone 16 Pro models could be increased. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 3577mAh battery while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4676mAh battery. Although Apple does not officially announce the battery capacity of its smartphones, it is known that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are equipped with 3274 and 4441 mAh batteries, respectively.
