According to recent rumors, Apple’s next iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could have significantly improved charging options. As ITHome reports, the new model will support fast 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe wireless charging, which is a significant upgrade over the current iPhone 15 Pro series.
The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max now charge at 27W with wired charging and 15W with MagSafe wireless charging.
If these rumors are true, the iPhone 16 Pro models could offer nearly 50% faster wired charging speeds and 33% more wireless charging capacity.
According to ITHome, these improvements aim to “compensate and improve the issue of longer charging time due to increased battery capacity.”
This suggests that Apple may be planning to add larger batteries to the new Pro models while maintaining or improving overall charging times.
The charging upgrade rumor is in line with previous speculation from around a year ago, which also claimed that the iPhone 16 series will feature stacking battery technology. This can increase capacity and extend battery life.
ITHome notes that these claimed peak charging speeds may not be met during charging. You should see a real improvement in overall loading time.
According to Apple’s usual release schedule, the iPhone 16 series is expected to be announced in September. Like all rumors, this information should be viewed with skepticism until Apple officially confirms it.
