Jodhpur, August 5: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has hailed the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the United Kingdom as a significant achievement for the country. He stated that this agreement will primarily benefit India’s engineering, handicraft, and leather industries.
Shekhawat mentioned, “Under this agreement, 99 percent of goods exported from India to the UK will now be exempt from import duties, meaning they will be sent at zero tariff.”
He provided figures indicating that on the very first day of the agreement’s implementation, products worth 140 million dollars were exported under its provisions, highlighting the importance of this deal.
The Union Minister also noted that the agreement includes a mobility clause, which will facilitate easier travel for work and trade between the two countries.
“When a mobility agreement is in place between two nations, work visas become much easier to obtain. I believe that the number of people going from India to the UK in the technology sector will increase. Indian talent will now be able to work better for the country abroad,” he added.
On another note, regarding the upcoming Panchayati Raj and urban body elections in Rajasthan, Shekhawat expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will achieve significant victories across the board.
He stated, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a new wave of development has begun in every assembly of the state. The BJP organization is working with full unity, and we are taking these elections very seriously.”
Shekhawat concluded, “I am fully confident that the people of Rajasthan will bless the BJP with a resounding majority in both the Panchayati Raj and local body elections.”
