Independence Day Celebrations at India House in Kenya

Nairobi, August 16: The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated at India House in Kenya, with over 1,200 attendees from the Indian community and friends of India. The Indian High Commission in Kenya shared details on social media, stating, “Celebrating India @80. The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated at India House in Nairobi with great patriotic fervor.” High Commissioner Adarsh Swain hoisted the national flag and read the President’s message to the nation. Various cultural programs showcased India’s rich cultural heritage.

A heartfelt presentation and group singing of the national song “Vande Mataram” marked the 150th anniversary of the song. A special exhibition highlighting its history, heritage, and significant role in India’s freedom struggle was also organized. The event featured vibrant cultural performances that added to the festive atmosphere of the Independence Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, in Bahrain, over 1,000 members of the Indian community also participated in Independence Day celebrations. The Indian Embassy reported that Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob hoisted the national flag at the embassy, celebrating India’s 80th Independence Day. More than 1,000 Indian community members from various parts of Bahrain joined the event with a spirit of unity, pride, and patriotism. Ambassador Jacob read President Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day message and urged the community to actively participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.

In France, Indian Ambassador Sanjeev Singla hoisted the national flag, and the embassy participated in the “Surya Path Tiranga” campaign, a global relay initiative symbolizing national pride and unity. The celebrations in France included a heartfelt presentation of “Vande Mataram,” along with vibrant cultural programs presented by teachers and local artists from the Indian Cultural Centre in Paris. Winners of the “Know India” quiz held in France were also honored during the event.
