Honor Magic V3 Foldable’s Google Cloud AI-Based Features Teased Ahead of Global Launch

Honor Magic V3

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor appears to be preparing to unveil three new products at its keynote, scheduled to take place on September 5 at IFA 2024 in Berlin. The brand is set to launch the global version of the Honor Magic V3 along with a new tablet and a new laptop. These are sold under the Honor AI brand for connected artificial intelligence functions. It is expected to become the flagship foldable smartphone and the brand has decided to officially reveal some of the AI features it could offer during the model’s global launch.

Honor has released a video on its official YouTube channel revealing some of the new AI-powered features that will be unveiled at its flagship event in September. This video shows how Honor plans to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver smarter software experiences.

Below, the Magic Portal tool appears as a foldable device called “Magic Portal on Folding.” This feature leverages the existing original fold-out screen (shown extra large) and allows users to multitask in a floating window between two apps at the same time.

According to reports, the Honor Notes feature leverages Google Cloud AI and can now record and transcribe meetings in real-time. It’s currently unclear how many of these devices under Google’s AI umbrella will use Google’s cloud services, but the company will use them as it launches its phones in global markets.

Another feature that’s very similar to what Google has with the Pixel Fold is personal translation. Similar to the Pixel Fold (and now the Pixel 9 Pro Fold), the app offers real-time translations displayed on both the internal and external displays.

No overview of AI capabilities would be complete without an AI image editor. Honor also includes an AI eraser tool that removes unwanted objects and people from certain images. Finally, there is the Eye Comfort Display feature, which uses defocusing technology to reduce the severity of myopia during prolonged use of a smartphone display.

Everything mentioned above seems to come from the Chinese brand, but it remains to be seen whether Google’s Honor AI and Gemini AI will coexist on the global Honor Magic V3 model. We expect to hear more about these features at the company’s keynote event on September 5th.
