HM Rajnath Singh in J&K on 2-day visit; to review security situation tomorrow

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached Srinagar on a two-day visit to the Valley to review the security situation and pay obeisance at Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalaya.

This is Rajntah Singh’s first visit to the state following the collapse of state government after BJP pulled out from the coalition with the PDP last month. He is accompanied by Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba,

National Security advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Home minister will review the security situation at a high level meeting on Thursday.

The Union Home Minister will also review the security arrangements put in place for the annual Amarnath yatra, which commenced on July 28 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam routes. The yatra however, was halted several times during the last six days due to bad weather.

Security has been increased in the city and adjoining areas in view of the visit of Singh to the Valley.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had to resign last month after the BJP pulled out from the coalition government in the state, where Governor’s rule has been imposed.
