Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Temperatures Drop Sharply, Yellow Alert for Storms in 4 Districts

Shimla, October 30, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Several parts of Himachal Pradesh received rainfall on Thursday, while light snowfall was reported in higher-altitude areas. Cloudy conditions prevailed across most parts of the state from Friday morning, increasing the chill in the hill regions.

The change in weather has led to a sharp decline in maximum temperatures in several towns, with Kalpa recording the steepest fall.

Himachal Pradesh Weather

Kalpa Records 8.5-Degree Drop in Maximum Temperature

Kalpa witnessed an 8.5-degree Celsius decline in its maximum temperature, with the mercury falling to 11.6 degrees Celsius.

Solan recorded an 8-degree drop, bringing its maximum temperature down to 18 degrees Celsius. In Shimla, the maximum temperature fell by 6.5 degrees to 17 degrees Celsius.

Tourist destination Kufri also experienced a significant decline. Its maximum temperature dropped by 5.6 degrees to 12 degrees Celsius.

The fall in temperatures indicates the widespread impact of rainfall and changing weather conditions, particularly in the state’s hill areas.

Yellow Alert for Storms in Four Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

Meanwhile, light snowfall is possible over the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba and Kinnaur. Snowfall in these areas may lead to a further decline in temperatures and increase the cold conditions.

Rain and Snowfall Likely Until November 2

Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled in some parts of Himachal Pradesh over the next few days.

According to the weather department’s forecast, light rainfall or snowfall is possible at isolated places between October 31 and November 2. Some areas may also receive light drizzle.

However, no special weather alert has been issued from Saturday onwards. Weather activity is therefore expected to remain limited to certain areas.

Weather May Improve After November 3

Residents and tourists may get some relief after November 3, when weather conditions are expected to improve and skies may become clearer across the state.

Clearer skies could also lead to a slight rise in temperatures.

For now, the increased chill following rainfall has changed weather conditions across the hill regions. With the possibility of snowfall over higher peaks and rain in some areas, residents and tourists planning trips to Himachal Pradesh should keep track of the latest weather forecasts.
