Jaipur, February 14: A tragic accident occurred on the Kota National Highway in the Chaksu police station area, where a speeding car collided with a trailer, resulting in the deaths of five individuals traveling in the car. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and used a crane to separate the damaged car from the trailer. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the government hospital’s morgue. The police worked diligently to identify the victims and inform their families about the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj reported that the collision between the trailer and the car was reported around 5:30 AM on Saturday at the Tigria turn in Chaksu. The police faced significant challenges in extricating the five individuals trapped in the car, four of whom, including a woman, were declared dead at the scene. A young man succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the car fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the high-speed crash into the trailer. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, and the bodies were trapped inside.
The victims were reportedly from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and were en route to Khatu Shyamji in Sikar after visiting Mahakal in Ujjain. The deceased have been identified as Shanu Sukarwar (25), Reshma Srivastava (54), Rahul Rajak (27), Piyush Rai (26), and Anurag Rajak (24).
Station House Officer Manohar Lal stated that the accident caused a significant traffic jam on the highway. The police, upon arrival, managed to clear the wreckage of both vehicles with the help of a crane and assisted in removing the bodies from the car, which were then sent to the sub-district hospital’s morgue. The families of the victims have been notified, and post-mortem procedures will commence once they arrive. Traffic was restored approximately two hours later.
Notably, the deceased Reshma Srivastava was a government teacher at a railway school in Jabalpur. Her husband, Akhilesh Srivastava, retired last year from a senior position at the Life Insurance Corporation. Reshma is survived by two daughters, with the elder having completed her graduation and the younger currently in the 11th grade. The police have apprehended the truck driver, Satyanarayan, a resident of Kachhola (Bhilwara), and both damaged vehicles have been seized for further investigation. The police are conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
