Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Traffic, Rail Services, and Flights in Kashmir

Srinagar, February 28 : Heavy snowfall across Kashmir Valley has severely disrupted transportation, air travel, and railway services. The adverse weather conditions have led to road blockages, delays in flights, and partial suspension of train operations.

Jammu-Srinagar Highway Blocked Due to Snow and Landslides

Officials reported that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been blocked between Ramsu and Qazigund due to accumulated snow. The situation worsened further due to landslides, rockfalls, and mudslides between Nashri and the Navyug Tunnel.

Additionally, landslides at Ragi Nala have resulted in the closure of the Batote-Doda road, while other major routes, including SSG Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Road, remain inaccessible.

Flights and Rail Services Affected

Srinagar International Airport witnessed delays in all morning flights due to poor visibility and snow accumulation.
Rail services have also been partially disrupted, with the Budgam-Banihal section operating on schedule, while Baramulla-bound trains are running behind schedule due to heavy snowfall.

Fresh Snowfall in the Valley

The Kashmir Valley has witnessed fresh snowfall in the past 24 hours, adding to the challenges faced by commuters and authorities. With weather conditions remaining harsh, travelers are advised to stay updated on official advisories before planning their journeys.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are working to restore connectivity at the earliest. Meanwhile, Kashmir remains blanketed in a fresh layer of snow, highlighting the region’s winter charm despite travel disruptions.
