Increased Rain Activities Expected from Today; Above Average Rainfall Predicted in August-September
Jaipur, August 3 (Udaipur Kiran) – The state of Rajasthan continues to experience heavy rainfall. On Friday, moderate to heavy rain was recorded in more than 20 cities, including Jaipur. Significant rainfall was observed in Ajmer, Beawar, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Nagaur, Pali, and Rajsamand, with Bikaner’s Kolayat recording the highest at 195 mm. Due to a low-pressure system, heavy rain activities are expected to increase in parts of southeastern Rajasthan starting August 3. The impact of this system is likely to be most significant on August 4-5 in the southeastern and western parts of the state. On August 4, heavy to very heavy rainfall (over 200 mm) is expected in some areas of Kota and Udaipur divisions. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also predicted for parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner divisions from August 4-6. According to the Water Resources Department, significant rainfall was recorded in various locations, including 160 mm in Pisangan, Ajmer; 140 mm in Mangliyawas; 80 mm in Pushkar; and 195 mm in Kolayat, Bikaner.
Heavy Rain Expected in Ajmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur Divisions
The Meteorological Department predicts active monsoon conditions in Ajmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur divisions over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. A low-pressure area has formed over Jharkhand and is likely to intensify over the next 48 hours, moving towards Rajasthan through Madhya Pradesh.
Dhoond River Flows After Four Years
Continuous rain in Jaipur has caused the Dhoond River to flow for the first time since August 15, 2020. The river collects water from the Kanota Dam and surrounding areas, which has overflowed due to heavy rain. Many people gathered at various points to witness the flowing river.
90 mm Rainfall in Jaipur, Waterlogging in Several Areas
Jaipur recorded 90 mm of rainfall from Thursday night to Friday evening, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and streets. This resulted in significant inconvenience for commuters. Municipal Corporation, JDA, and police worked through the night on rescue and relief operations. Many underpasses were flooded, and traffic was diverted. The recently constructed underpass at Lakshmi Mandir intersection also experienced waterlogging, raising questions about its construction quality.
Rescue Operation in Banjara Basti, Bagru
The SDRF team rescued eight people trapped in the Banjara Basti of Bagru due to heavy rain. The team reached the flood-affected area with the help of motorboats and safely evacuated five men and three women to safer locations.
