Monsoon is expected to reach Southern Maharashtra in next 24 to 48 hours. Met department said the rains being witnessed in Mumbai and adjoining areas since yesterday are pre-monsoon showers.
Met Department had already forecast “heavy to very heavy” rains in Maharashtra, especially in the coastal Konkan region, from yesterday till 11th June.
There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in six districts of Konkan region including Mumbai and surrounding areas on June 10 and 11.
People outside Mumbai can dial 1077 and those in Mumbai can dial 1916 in case of emergency.
Meanwhile, Bombay Municipal Corporation has canceled Saturday and Sunday offs of its officers after heavy rain warnings issued by IMD.
