Heavy Rain Expected in 6 Himachal Pradesh Districts Today and Tomorrow

Bhopal, August 5 (Udaipur Kiran) — Monsoon activities are ongoing in Madhya Pradesh, with continuous rainfall causing rivers to overflow. Ten major dams, including Bargi and Bansagar, have reached full capacity. Today (Monday), an alert has been issued for heavy rain in 13 districts across Indore, Ujjain, Sagar, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions. In the state capital, Bhopal, light rain has been ongoing since the morning.

The state has received 23.3 inches of rain over the past one and a half months, which constitutes 62% of the seasonal quota. According to the Meteorological Department, low-pressure areas, the monsoon trough, and cyclonic circulation are contributing to the heavy rainfall.

In western Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Chambal, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram divisions, rainfall is 22% above average, while in the eastern divisions of Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar, it is 17% above average. The highest rainfall has been recorded in Mandla district at 36.13 inches, which is about 11 inches above normal. Other regions like Seoni, Narmadapuram-Raisen, and Bhopal have also seen significant rainfall.

On Sunday, over 25 districts experienced rainfall, with Gwalior receiving 1.8 inches, Pachmarhi 1.7 inches, Shivpuri-Shajapur 1.5 inches, Guna 1.1 inches, and Tikamgarh 1.2 inches. Other districts like Ratlam, Betul, Satna, Chhindwara, and others also experienced rain.

Due to the ongoing rainfall over the past four days, water has overflowed from ten major dams. The large lake in Bhopal is also full, with the Bhadsabda and Kaliyasot dams having opened their gates multiple times this season. Other dams like Tawa in Narmadapuram, Rajghat in Ashoknagar, Bargi in Jabalpur, Barna in Raisen, Halali in Vidisha, and Machagora in Chhindwara have also had their gates opened.
