Heatwave Alert Issued for 19 Rajasthan Districts

Rajasthan, May 18 (Udaipur Kiran) – Heatwave conditions have intensified across Rajasthan, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures rising sharply in several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in 19 districts on May 18 and 19.

According to the forecast, maximum temperatures in the affected districts are likely to remain between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, Barmer recorded the highest temperature in the state at 45.4 degrees Celsius. Temperatures also touched 45 degrees in Bikaner, while Jaisalmer recorded 44.9 degrees Celsius. Severe heat conditions were also reported in Phalodi and Chittorgarh.

Other major cities recording high temperatures included Kota and Vanasthali in Tonk at 44.2 degrees Celsius, Sri Ganganagar at 44.1 degrees Celsius, Jodhpur at 43.8 degrees Celsius and Churu at 43.6 degrees Celsius.

Night temperatures have also started increasing significantly. Hanumangarh recorded the warmest night in the state with a minimum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius. Chittorgarh recorded 32.6 degrees Celsius at night, while Barmer, Phalodi, Jodhpur, Kota and Jaisalmer also witnessed unusually warm nights.

In Udaipur, the heatwave impact was visible at Fateh Sagar Lake, where tourist activity remained low and several boats were seen idle due to the extreme heat.

In Kota, water sprinklers were used on cows to provide relief from the rising temperatures.

The weather department has indicated that heat conditions may intensify further this week across western, northern and eastern Rajasthan.
