He is being interrogated to find whether he is a part of any racket involved in human trafficking and issuing fake visas, cops at Bicchiwada police station said. The Bicchiwada police got a complaint from a locale Prakash Kalal (49) who claimed that Asif had contacted him a year ago and offered to provide employment to jobless youths in foreign countries. Believing his words, Prakash managed to get 13 people who desired to go abroad and were willing to pay money for the expenses incurred in the course. Prakash collected 3 lakh 20 thousand rupees from these persons and gave the money to Asif who assured them to get the job at earliest possible. In July 2017, Asif held a meeting and gave a stamped document to the people assuring that he had found jobs for them in Denmark and the formalities would be completed in 2 months. Prakash told police that Asif even took the people to Ahmedabad for their medical examination as a mandatory formality for procuring job visas.
When Asif failed in providing the jobs, people forced Prakash who took a loan to repay the money he had collected from the 13 people. Prakash kept demanding the money but Asif didnt give any satisfactory reply. Finally on Prakash’s pressure he gave a cheque of 3 lakh 20 thousand rupees which was dishonoured by the bank on August 28 this year. ” On Prakash’s complaint, our team went to Modasa and arrested Asif. Initially he has confessed of taking money from several youths in Mehsana, Himmatnagar, Dungarpur and surrounding areas, He would advertise job vacancies in the local newspaper and vulnerable youths would fall in his net” Sunil Sharma, SHO Bicchiwada police station told Udaipur Kiran.
