Udaipur, July 25: As part of the “Organ Donation – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan” and Organ Donation Awareness Month – July 2026, organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), Government of India, the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Udaipur hosted an inspiring guest lecture on the theme “Organ Donation and Its Importance.” The programme was conducted in accordance with the directives of the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Rajasthan.
Expert Highlights Importance of Organ Donation
The keynote speaker, Dr. Rohan S. Monis, CAO, KMCH & RC and Organ Donation Chair, Rotary Club/Organ Donation International, spoke about the scientific, social and humanitarian aspects of organ donation. He said that a single organ donor has the potential to save multiple lives.
Dr. Monis also explained the importance of organ donation after death, addressed common misconceptions surrounding the practice and stressed the need to create greater awareness in society.
Faculty and Students Participate
The lecture was attended by Sai Tirupati University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Prashant Nahar, Registrar Dr. Devendra Jain, PIMS Principal Dr. Suresh Goyal, Dr. Dilip Kumar Parik, principals of constituent colleges, faculty members and a large number of students.
The programme aimed to encourage a positive attitude towards voluntary organ donation among young people and inspire them to spread awareness within society.
Call to Promote Organ Donation
Programme Coordinator Dr. Pranav Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, thanked the guests and participants and appealed to people to take the pledge for organ donation.
The organisers said the lecture proved to be an important and inspiring initiative towards increasing public awareness about organ donation. Dr. Shrinidhi, Professor of Physiology, delivered the vote of thanks.
