Baghpat, August 11: Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, Chairman of the All Indian Anti-Terrorist Front, defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi amidst demands from the Congress party for his resignation. He highlighted significant actions taken by the government, including the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Temple, and military actions against terrorism following the Pulwama attack, asserting that national security and the country’s interests should take precedence over politics.
Bitta stated that it is inappropriate to demand the resignation of a Prime Minister who revoked Article 370, which had previously led to ongoing violence and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, affecting both soldiers and civilians. He questioned those who prioritize political interests over national welfare, emphasizing that the nation must come first.
He noted that the construction of the Ram Temple occurred without violence or riots, and he described the removal of Article 370 as a significant step towards strengthening the nation. He stressed the necessity of eradicating terrorism and praised the government’s actions under the Prime Minister’s leadership. Referring to the terrorist incident in Pahalgam, he mentioned that subsequent military operations successfully targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan, showcasing India’s enhanced capability to respond to terrorism.
Bitta also addressed a potential bomb plot in Delhi, stating that if an explosion had occurred at Jantar Mantar, it would have led to political blame directed at the central government. He commended the vigilance of the Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies for preventing such incidents. Drawing from his experiences with terrorism, he urged the current generation to understand the past when numerous soldiers lost their lives to terrorist attacks, leaving many families devastated.
He encouraged political parties to compare the security situation in India today with that of a decade ago, claiming that security has improved in many regions and conditions surrounding soldiers’ sacrifices have changed.
Bitta asserted that the Prime Minister’s efforts are not solely for Hindutva but for the betterment of India as a whole. He identified himself as a former supporter of the Congress party but clarified that his focus is on the Prime Minister’s actions that he believes serve the national interest.
He condemned any attempts to divide India, referencing the demand for Khalistan in Punjab, and reiterated that the unity and integrity of the nation are paramount. While citizens are free to protest and express their demands, he stressed that national unity must never be compromised.
