Patna, July 23: JD(U) leader Shyam Rajak has responded to the ongoing protests, acknowledging the legitimacy of students’ demands while accusing opposition parties of inciting unrest in the name of the students.
In an interview, Rajak emphasized the significance of the issue, noting the anger among youth and students. He stated that such matters can only be resolved through dialogue, highlighting India’s tradition of peaceful conflict resolution.
“The government has shown restraint in handling the situation. Misleading students and inciting them to engage in disruptive actions goes against the spirit of any genuine movement. Peaceful protests are acceptable, but vandalism is the work of troublemakers. Actions like damaging property, attacking people, or using knives cannot be part of legitimate dissent,” Rajak remarked.
He further criticized attacks by one political party on another’s office, asserting that such behavior is not characteristic of a democratic political system. He condemned the Congress party’s recent gathering at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi, calling it an attempt to provoke tension, and stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opposes such actions.
Rajak also addressed the NEET issue, stating that the government is prepared to discuss it in the assembly. He noted that while the demands are gradually increasing, those calling for resignations must provide valid reasons. “Simply insisting on resignations without facts is not in the national interest; it borders on treason and misleads students and youth,” he concluded.
