Google Pixel 9 Series to Reportedly Feature a New Weather App With Redesigned Cards

Google Pixel 9 series

The Google Pixel 9 series will be announced at the Made by Google event next week. A new weather app could be on the way, according to a new report. The new weather app is said to have been developed exclusively for the upcoming series, which is rumored to consist of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It’s unclear whether the new app will replace the existing weather section of the Google app or be available alongside it.

It is reported that the Google Pixel 9 series will come with a new weather application

According to a report from Android Authority, the new Weather app for the Google Pixel 9 series is a redesigned version of the Weather section of the Google app. The publication said it accessed the program from an unknown source. The report shared several screenshots of the app, claiming that all features are working, but notes that it may be an unfinished version rather than the final build.

The biggest change in the new weather app is said to be its minimalist design language. The frog graphic and background in the main weather section has been replaced with a simple gradient background that matches the weather conditions of the selected location.

The way information is displayed using screenshots has also changed. Temperature was the biggest factor and took center stage. Instead of a degree sign next to the number, a symbol is now placed next to the number that shows the weather condition and whether it is day or night. Below you can see the temperature as well as the high and low temperatures for that day.

According to the report, weather information cards such as 10-day forecast, humidity, sunrise and sunset, wind, AQI, visibility, UV index and barometric pressure can be repositioned with a long press. The only exception is said to be the hourly weather update map, which is installed directly below the main temperature display.

Maps such as wind, pressure, AQI and visibility have also been redesigned, with each element now displayed in its own shape, unlike the rectangular maps in the current weather section of the Google app. Each card has more colors. Additionally, the report claims that the app does not use animations, which is also a change from the existing options.

It’s unclear whether the app will be available on older Pixel phones and eventually other Android phones, or whether it will remain exclusive to the Pixel 9 series. Gadget 360 cannot confirm the app’s existence and Google hasn’t announced anything either, so it’s best to wait until the device and its features are officially announced on August 13th.
