It has been confirmed that the company will announce the Google Pixel 9 series on August 13th. Ahead of launch, a new report reveals three new artificial intelligence (AI) features that could come to smartphones. According to reports, these features will come with Google AI branding, which is a first for the smartphone series. The new screenshot feature is part of the trio and the reported description appears to be slightly different from Microsoft’s AI reminder feature for Copilot+ PC.

It is reported that the Google Pixel 9 will come with an artificial intelligence screenshot feature similar to Recall

Microsoft introduced an AI-based feature called Recall in May. The app regularly takes and saves screenshots of your PC, creating a timeline of your activities on your device. Users can then ask the AI what they were doing at a specific time on a specific day, and the AI on the device can process and share information from the screenshot database.

However, this feature has drawn criticism due to its privacy-invading nature and lack of security and encryption. In particular, Microsoft promised to add some security features and delayed the launch of Recall.

However, according to a report from Android Authority, Google sees this feature a little differently. According to reports, the smartphone does not take its own screenshots and saves manually clicked screenshots along with additional metadata. This includes information such as the app name, web link and more. An AI on the device, which could be a Gemini Nano AI model, would then process these images and answer users’ questions about the images, the report said, citing anonymous sources.

Although the exact use and implementation of this feature is currently unclear, the screenshot feature could provide users with a way to organize their saved screenshots and quickly retrieve information.

Additional Google AI features are also set to roll out next month

According to this report, two more Google AI features will be added along with AI screenshots. The first is “Add Me.” “Make sure everyone is included in group photos,” the feature’s description reads in an image shared by the publication. Based on this information, the feature appears to be an expansion of last year’s Best Takes feature, which improves people’s facial expressions in group photos. Add Me can help users in situations where some members are missing from a particular group photo. Users may be able to add missing members by taking other group photos and merging them with the desired photo.

Another function is called “Studio” and has the description “You introduce yourself”. Pixels do it. While this description makes it seem like it is a generic AI image generator, the report claims that it has more functionality and may allow users to edit images and create stickers. If true, this feature will be similar to Apple’s AI-powered Image Playground feature, which was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 in June.

Apart from this, the screenshots shared show that Circle to Search and Gemini’s built-in AI assistant will also be available as part of Google’s AI when the Pixel 9 series launches.
