The Jaipur Bullion Committee released the latest rates, which show a sharp increase in both gold and silver prices:

✔ 24-carat gold – ₹88,700 per 10 grams
✔ 22-carat gold – ₹83,500 per 10 grams
✔ 18-carat gold – ₹70,700 per 10 grams
✔ 14-carat gold – ₹57,200 per 10 grams
✔ Refined silver – ₹1 lakh per kg

Why Are Gold Prices Rising?

Factors Driving the Surge in Gold Prices

✔ Interest Rate Cuts in the US and UK – The recent monetary policy decisions by the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of England to lower interest rates have increased demand for gold as a safe-haven asset.

✔ Geopolitical Tensions – Rising global uncertainties and conflicts have led investors to shift their focus towards gold, further boosting prices.

✔ Increased Investment in Gold ETFs – A sharp rise in investments in Gold Exchange-Traded Funds (Gold ETFs) has contributed to the surge in demand.

✔ Weakening of the Indian Rupee – The fluctuating forex market and a strong US dollar have also played a role in driving up gold prices.

Bullion expert Rakesh Khandelwal predicts that if these trends persist, gold prices could cross ₹90,000 per 10 grams in the near future.

Things to Keep in Mind While Buying Gold

With gold prices at record highs, it is essential to ensure authenticity and fair pricing when making a purchase.

1. Always Buy Certified Gold

  • Look for Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Hallmark certification.
  • From April 1, 2025, gold without a 6-digit alphanumeric Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number will not be sold legally.
  • Similar to an Aadhaar card, gold jewelry will now have a 6-digit HUID number, such as AZ4524, which certifies its authenticity.

2. Cross-Check Prices Before Buying

  • Verify the daily gold rates from reliable sources such as India Bullion & Jewellers Association (IBJA).
  • Prices vary based on purity levels: 24-carat, 22-carat, and 18-carat gold have different rates.
  • 24-carat gold is the purest form, but it is too soft for jewelry, so most ornaments are made with 22-carat or lower purity gold.

How to Calculate Gold Price Based on Purity

If 24-carat gold is priced at ₹60,000 per 10 grams, then:
✔ Price per gram = ₹6,000
✔ 1-carat value = ₹6,000 ÷ 24 = ₹250
✔ 18-carat gold price per gram = 18 × ₹250 = ₹4,500

Thus, if your jewelry is 18-carat gold, you can multiply ₹4,500 by the total weight (in grams) to determine its exact price.
