Udaipur : Amid much uproar over increasing sexual attacks on women,specially younger girls, a complaint from a college girl against a police officer has come as a big shock for the department. A 19-year-old college student filed a complaint of immodest behaviour by Circle Inspector of Ghantaghar police station,when she happened to go there in connection to a complaint which she had given against her friends of physical abuse. The girl’s complaint against the SHO was taken, however,for some unknown reasons, she has withdrawn the complaint, an officer said.
The girl,a resident of Kunwariya in Rajsamand district studies in Udaipur. On April 12,she gave a complaint at Ghantaghar police station about having been thrashed by one of her friend and her boy friend. She said they both forcedly made her eat some intoxicating stuff and thrashed her. The case was registered and investigation had begun.
On April 14, she went to the station where the SHO Gopal Chandel reportedly misbehaved with her inside his chamber.The girl ran out and went straight to the control room at Delhi Gate where she reported the matter to the woman help desk. She insisted on meeting the Inspector General Anand Srivastava. The officer was contacted however, he being out-of town asked the staff to refer the case to Additional SP (city).
The girl was sent to ASP Harsh Ratnu who was given the charge to investigate the matter. The girl’s statement had been recorded and cops had to speak to some of her friends to ascertain the truth. However, in a surprising turn of events, the girl and her family stepped back and said that they no longer wish to have any action taken against anyone. ASP Harsh Ratnu told media that the girl said she was mislead to give such a plaint and since she withdrew her complaint, no investigation would be made further.
