GAIL contracts Rs 1,100 crore worth pipes for Barauni-Guwahati gas pipeline

GAIL (India) has awarded contract for the purchase of 616 km of line pipe worth Rs 1,100 crore for the Barauni – Guwahati pipeline, putting on fast track execution of the project of the 729 km feeder line linking North East India with the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga pipeline network.

The award of the contract will ensure commencement of spurline laying activities of the Barauni-Guwahati pipeline from December 2018. The under construction pipeline will connect the upcoming ‘Indradhanush’ gas grid network to the national gas network.

GAIL India is India’s principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing (for fractionating LPG, Propane, SBP Solvent and Pentane); transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications.
