Fresh Snowfall in Auli Brings Back Chilly Weather to Lower Areas

Auli/Jyotirmath, March 16: Renowned for its pristine landscapes and adventurous ski slopes, Auli and surrounding higher Himalayan regions witnessed fresh snowfall, covering mountains and meadows in a pristine white blanket. Recent snowfall at popular destinations like Shri Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib-Lokpal, and the Niti-Mana passes has led to a significant drop in temperatures across lower regions, bringing back chilly conditions and prompting locals to pull out their winter gear again.

Snowfall Impacts Ski Slopes Ahead of National Skiing Championship

The snowfall in Auli, although visually appealing, has brought mixed outcomes for the upcoming National Skiing Championship scheduled from March 16 to March 19. The fresh snow received was quickly melting, and in the process, it melted away the accumulated snow layers on the famous skiing slopes that had settled over the past months.

With the skiing competition right around the corner, the condition of the slopes near Tower number 10 of the Ropeway is a major concern. Skiing experts emphasize the necessity of substantial snow to meet competition standards, and the current weather has cast uncertainty over the upcoming events.

Weather Department Predicts Further Snowfall

Offering a glimmer of hope, the Meteorological Department has predicted more snowfall in higher altitudes within the next 48 hours. If additional snowfall occurs, especially late at night, it would significantly enhance slope conditions, ensuring the National Skiing Championship proceeds smoothly as scheduled.

Participants, organizers, and tourists eagerly await the next weather update, hoping that fresh snowfall will replenish the skiing slopes and support the successful execution of the upcoming event.

This fresh spell of snow is also expected to boost tourism in Auli, attracting visitors seeking a glimpse of the beautiful winter landscapes and adventure activities.
