Patna, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic incident took place in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Wednesday night, when four members of a family were hit and killed by the Amrapali Express train near the Umesh Nagar railway crossing under the Sahebpur Kamal police station area on the Barauni–Katihar rail section.

Confirming the incident, Sahebpur Kamal Station House Officer (SHO) Sintu Kumar said that the accident occurred late at night when the victims were walking along the railway track.
The deceased were identified as Dharamdev Mahato (40), son of Kishun Mahato; Rita Devi (35), wife of Madan Mahato; Roshni Kumari (14), daughter of Rita Devi; and Aarohi Kumari (7), daughter of Nitish Kumar. All of them were residents of Rahua village under Sahebpur Kamal police station limits.
According to police, the victims were returning home from the Kali Puja fair held in Raghunathpur village. Locals often use the railway track-side path as a shortcut to reach Rahua. Unfortunately, the group came under the speeding Amrapali Express, leading to the fatal accident.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and sent the bodies to Begusarai Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. SHO Sintu Kumar urged residents to exercise extreme caution while walking along railway tracks, especially in this section where trains pass at high speed.
