Jaipur, February 14: A tragic road accident occurred early Saturday morning in the Chaksu area of Jaipur, Rajasthan, claiming the lives of five individuals, including a woman. The incident took place around 5:30 AM on the Kota-Jaipur National Highway (NH-52) when a car traveling from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, collided with a trailer. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, trapping the occupants inside.
According to Manohar Lal Meghwal, the Station House Officer of Chaksu Police Station, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the loss of control and subsequent crash into the trailer. Four people, including the woman, died at the scene, while a young man succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Reshma Srivastava, wife of Akhilesh Srivastava, along with Piyush Rai, Rahul, and the driver Anurag. The identity of the fifth victim is yet to be confirmed. All the deceased were residents of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and were in Jaipur for personal reasons.
Following the accident, a significant traffic jam ensued on the national highway, completely disrupting vehicular movement. Local police and accident relief teams arrived promptly at the scene. With the assistance of a crane, the damaged vehicles were removed, gradually restoring normal traffic flow. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary of Chaksu Sub-District Hospital, and the police have informed the families of the deceased.
Post-mortem procedures will be conducted once the families arrive.
