First Beta Version of Android 15 is Available, but only for these phones
The first public beta version of Android 15, the next version of Google’s mobile operating system, has arrived. The release is followed by two developer previews to give users an idea of what Google has in store for its next mobile operating system.
Stay tuned to the Google I/O developer conference in May for more details. Android 15 Beta 1 is an “initial beta” and will be the first release in this cycle for participants in the Android Beta program.

Phones running Android 15 beta
In terms of availability, the Android 15 beta is rolling out to Pixel devices. Android 15 beta runs on Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6A, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7A, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro.
The first update focuses on some practical improvements. Apps now automatically scale to fill the entire screen, making transparent app system trays a thing of the past. Additionally, Android 15 supports app backup and restore, so third-party app stores can take advantage of this feature. Braille users also get better support in this update.
While these are big changes, there is much more going on behind the scenes. Most of the developments aim at the seamless integration of hardware and software. There are signs of even bigger changes that could be unveiled at Google I/O. Satellite messaging and a desktop mode similar to Samsung DeX may be in the works.
