Udaipur : Two days after the death of the engineering student who killed himself after an attempt to murder the college director, the deceased’s family has given a complaint against the institution for suicide abetment. The case has been registered under section 306 of the IPC at the Hiran Magri police station.
Meanwhile, medical condition of the director Prof RS Vyas is said to be serious and far from recovery, sources said. Bhavik Jain, a fourth semester student of IT branch in Techno NJR college of Engineering had stabbed the director and later on jumped into a lake and ended his life on Tuesday noon. The student was reportedly not permitted to appear the placement interviews in the campus that day which had led to a heated argument between the director and him. According to the college staff, Bhavik had to clear few papers of the previous semesters. The deceased had earlier taken admission in an engineering college in Pune but left the course to join the college here. Initial investigation suggests that Bhavik was under depression for not being able to do well in studies.
Meanwhile, in a recent development, few more students of the college have come up claiming mental harassment on the part of the management. Some of the students have given a written statement to the police that pupils were put under extreme pressure which has been distracting them from studies. On Wednesday, while the autopsy was being conducted, a delegation of the Jain community had demonstrated and demanded legal action to be taken against the college for suicide abetment.
